As you say, the media's complicity in this is abysmal. <br /><br />I felt the main thing that the sleight of hand was meant to conceal was the extent of tax handouts to the already rich - changes to corporation tax, ISAs etc which are very boring but clearly cannot be afforded if a balanced budget is to be achieved, and come at the expense of spending on welfare payments, NHS, schools and other essential areas.
